Vasque Breeze GTX XCR

$160

The Oregan Mountain Community describe the Vasque Breeze GTX XCR as: “…marriage of a trail runner’s light and less restrictive upper with a hiking boot’s stiff and protective sole.”  A boot praised for its cushioning, lightness and comfort, their air-mesh and leather upper also makes them very breathable for hotter conditions.

Wicking nylon linings soak up extra wetness and distribute it for speedy drying out.  Trail dirt is kept out by padded tongues that also relieve any potential lacing pressure from the instep.  When wearing them, ankles are given support with padding which restricts twisiting in order to help keep them stable. Any bumps enounctered underfoot can be absorbed by the shock-absorbing Phylon midsoles, which is also kept quite rigid in order to support on less even surfaces.  The soles are Vibram and so provide great traction on most surfaces.

Despite being one of the most light, comfortable and cushioned boots available at present, there are also drawbacks that you should be aware of.  A number of buyers have commented that they are not suffieciently waterproof in wet conditions and although their traction is excellent on dry surfaces, they do possiblly have a tendency to slip on particluar wetter surfaces.

The Vasque Breeze may be best suited for you if you are a quick trekker looking for a cool, light and comfortable boot to wear on dry days.
